Wine Tasting

The wineries may be closed for the winter but that doesn't mean you have to miss out on trying the red stuff. The Plus Port organises cosy winter wine tasting evenings in the hostel. See the Plus Port desk for further details.

 

Chianti By Vespa

Have you ever dreamt of riding through the Chianti hills on the back of an Italian Vespa? Now live the dream.

The trip takes you along quiet and scenic country roads offering fantastic views of the rolling hillside and the chance to visit small medieval villages in the heart of Tuscany. There is a break for lunch featuring Tuscan specialties. If you are not comfortable riding solo, you can choose to ride with an experienced guide. A valid drivers license is required and you must be at least 18 years of age. A motorcycle license is not necessary. Daily departure from Florence at 9.30 am. The tour lasts up to 6 hours.

Includes: • Roundtrip transportation in private air-conditioned van, • English, French & German speaking professional guide • 4 hours of Vespa riding • visiting different small medieval villages in the heart of the "Chianti" area • lunch • Insurance, • Helmet.

Chianti by Quad bike

Experience a wonderful adventure on Quad bikes (ATV) offering you a unique opportunity to explore Tuscany.

Ride a quad bike through the Chianti region featuring vineyards, woods and olive groves. Before exploring the landscape surrounding the spectacular Villa from where we depart, you will receive instruction on how to safely operate the vehicle by the English speaking quad guide. You will then be served a Tuscan meal accompanied by a selection of fine Chianti wines in the  restaurant of the Villa. In the way back we stop to visit a 13th century castle nearby. Daily departure from Florence at 9.30 am. The tour lasts up to 6 hours. Tuscany On Horseback

Explore the Tuscan countryside and let someone else do the walking... on horseback! You will be taken to the Chianti region, in the heart of Tuscany, where some of our most famous wines are produced. We ride through vineyards, olive groves and over rolling hills.

Absolutely no prior experience is needed for this relaxed adventure.  Bring long pants and closed shoes. During the ride there is a break to enjoy a delicious Tuscan meal in a 13thC medieval castle accompanied with a Chianti wine tasting.

TOTALLY TUSCAN TOUR

-A CLASSIC TOUR OF CHIANTI

Drive through the rolling green hills of Chianti in the comfort of an air conditioned coach. Take in the picture postcard scenery of vine covered hills, towering cypresses and traditional olive trees.

Taste typical Tuscan Products from the source such as cured meats, cheeses and olive oils. More salamis than you can shake a cured ham at, sheep and goat's cheeses to tickle the tastebuds, and have a go at mopping up the oil with fresh bread.

Stroll around Chianti's charming capital Greve. Beneath the covered walkway around the central square are many shops selling everything from local crafts, to fresh foods and farm products.

Go potty over traditional terracotta with one of Chianti's oldest kiln towns since the Romans. Impruneta has a long history of pottery making, with many works on display around the town.

Set your taste buds alight with Tuscany's famous Grappa & Chianti as you learn how these two are made. The distillery will show you the processes the ingredients go through to make it's signature wine and fire water. See the gallery for photos from the trip.
